About the College

Overview

A provincial institution with a national role

Police Training College Hangu is the oldest police training institution of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is responsible for the basic training of newly recruited constables and for the specialised and promotional courses that carry serving personnel through their careers.

The College conducts the Basic Recruit Course alongside the Lower, Intermediate, Upper and Advance Courses, and a set of specialised courses in weapon handling, gas, section and platoon command, and drill. Its intake is no longer limited to the province: personnel from law enforcement agencies across Pakistan are trained here.

In June 2025 the Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, announced that work was under way to upgrade the College into a full-fledged police academy.

History

From recruit centre to college

Before Partition, the constabulary and police officers of the subcontinent were trained at three institutions: Hangu in the North-West Frontier Province, Shahdadpur in Sindh and Phillaur in East Punjab. Hangu is the one that remained with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police.
